Data Automation to help you run your business efficiently with less resources
Your workers are remote. Your data is changing at a faster pace. Your management is asking you to look at head-count.
You are expected to continue to run the business. You need automation of your data management processes.
Company
Our customer is the global Data Management team at a leading bottler of beverage. They can ride the current Coronavirus driven crisis without missing a heart-beat, thanks to a fully automated data management process. They can continue to validate master and transactional data from 9 countries and provide an 18 hour SLA for data cleansing and 92% quality across all the markets.
Our customer has a centralized data management team that is responsible for ensuring the completeness and accuracy of all master data in the ERP and Supply Chain systems for 9 countries.
Being a fast-moving product, master data changes happen daily and their purchasing, production, distribution, and sales are done daily. Therefore the need is to ensure that product data is complete and accurate daily.
Challenge
Each market had its own ERP and supply chain systems and managing data required a repetitive process of analyzing data for each market separately and executing data resolution actions independently.
Without having automated data quality tracking capability, the team was only able to provide 2-3 day SLA to the Operations team in setting up and resolving issues with new products.
Additionally, the data management team was challenged to work on multiple other initiatives which prevented them from being able to manage the SLA and quality of the data.
Solution
The customer is using DvSum’s data management platform to connect, validate, report and track the quality of data.
Using the different database and application connectors, they connected DvSum to databases of all the countries.
They created a set of over 115 rules that validate all aspects of data from data completeness, validity, integrity and model completeness.
For example, every product should have the required brand, flavor, packaging and other attributes populated.
Every product at a particular location should have its respective MRP attributes populated.
Every product that is produced, should have a Bill of Material with valid components.
Data completeness & validity
They then set-up a schedule to automatically execute these rules daily in the morning and spend morning time analyzing the exceptions and resolving them. The fixes resulted in changes to master data that is committed back into ERP and supply chain systems.
Data integrity
Using the templates and rules library feature, they cloned the complete set of rules from one market to another and rolled out the capability to new markets within a week.
Model completeness
Finally, they used the Data Quality Reporting capability to track the daily snapshot of exceptions, the trends over time and benchmark across countries to find the best and worst performing markets on managing their data.
Business value delivered
The master data is able to provide an 18 hour SLA down from 72 hours to ensure completeness of new product setup.
They are able to consistently deliver 90% data quality up from 75% before.
They are able to support 9 markets with 5 full-time data analysts down from 8.
