One normalized Data Catalog from variety of sources

Features

SQL Databases

DvSum connects using JDBC drivers and leverages the data dictionary of the SQL database. For example, it uses INFORMATION_SCHEMA from MYSQL, SQL Server, SnowFlake, and USER_TABLES from Oracle.

BI Tools

DvSum extracts metadata from the Metadata API available in Tableau. PowerBI does not publish its Metadata API but can be manually extracted. For other BI tools, please contact DvSum Support to check for automatic connectivity to your tools.

Features

Data Lakes

Files in Data Lakes do not have a built-in dictionary. For AWS S3, it leverages Glue Catalog to extract the metadata. For Microsoft Azure Data Lake, it runs a crawler and uses Synapse to profile the files. For Google Cloud Storage, also it runs a crawler and uses Google Big Query to profile the files.

SaaS Applications

For SaaS applications, DvSum leverages their published API to extract the metadata. The published list of SaaS applications supported by DvSum are listed above. If you cannot find your application, contact our support team to discuss further.

BYOD. Bring your own Dictionary

You may already have a data dictionary available. You have an option to load it into DvSum and benefit from a single Intelligent Data Catalog. Live connection to your data sources is preferred option as it allows profiling of data for classification and data quality monitoring.

Offline Data

There is most likely useful data in your organization that is still residing in spreadsheets. You can load these spreadsheets into DvSum as offline data and make it discoverable in the Catalog.

Frequently Asked Questions

No. There is no additional cost. The cost of connectors is included in your data source pricing.

We offer building custom connectors as Development Services. You should be an Enterprise Tier customer to have access to our Dev Services. Confirmation of whether a custom connector can be developed can be done after a better understanding of the source type and external application connectivity access to such an application.
